1/7/26 - Daily Market Recap
TLDR:
Tough day, a lot of effort for nothing. Couldn’t get anything to really follow through. A couple emotional re-entries didn’t help. Ended the day frustrated, which is usually my cue to step back and stop pressing.
Trades I Took
CRML
This was my main focus coming into the day. It had a post-market blowoff yesterday and was gapping up slightly but still under those highs.
I started in half size premarket, expecting some kind of bounce at open or breakdown to add.
Out of the open it was extremely strong. I added to full size, but it pushed through premarket highs and barely ticked a new overall high. I got stopped out pretty quickly.
After that breakout failed, I re-shorted a starter and slowly scaled back in as it came back down into the opening range.
It chopped around the bottom of the opening range for a while. I stayed patient and let it work.
Eventually it based off premarket support and curled back up. Once it reclaimed 13, I stopped out.
It appeared to FBO over the highs so I gave it one more shot but at this point it was trending and I got stopped out again.
In hindsight, sure, I could have covered some near the lows, but this was a name with room to go much further if it really failed. I’m fine with how I managed it. Sometimes the better setup just doesn’t pay you.
Lesson: Good idea, reasonable execution, but the trade just didn’t work (for now). No need to overthink this one.
SLV
This was more of a structural idea.
Futures were gapping down after a double top and a trend break, so I got short premarket.
It made new lows early but bounced quickly. Given how much it had already moved down from post-market highs, I wasn’t expecting a huge intraday extension.
Once it reclaimed intraday highs, I stopped out near breakeven. I tried once more on the next short signal but again it held.
Nothing wrong here. It just didn’t do much.
Lesson: Sometimes the move already happened. I probably should have covered some on that opening wash but this has yet to have the “big red day” so I got greedy. Breakeven is a win on days like this.
SIDU
This was the one that actually did what I wanted.
It was showing clear relative weakness compared to other space names.
It couldn’t break over post-market highs and started to roll.
I shorted it anticipating a break of the opening range, and we got a hard crack lower. I covered some into the wash and re-hit the bounce but it closed sideways.
This helped offset some frustration, but not enough to flip the day around.

What I’m Taking Away
Today just wasn’t my day. The biggest issue wasn’t the ideas, it was how I handled frustration once things stopped working. Emotional re-entries and trying to “make something happen” are always red flags for me.
Tomorrow the focus is simple: slow down, be more selective, and don’t press when the tape is choppy. If the trades aren’t clean, it’s okay to do less. Sometimes the best trade is recognizing when conditions aren’t lining up and protecting mental capital as much as financial capital.
