Daily Trading Recap - 2/26/26
Short South Korea
TLDR
Shorted EWY on an extended gap up, then flipped long for the bounce.
ALBT was a clean nail-and-bail short into $1.
Stopped out of NXT swing.
Trades I Took
EWY 0.00%↑
EWY is the ETF for South Korea’s large and mid-cap index. Not in my normal universe, but it was more than 10 ATRs extended from its 50-day on the daily. Overnight futures were strong and it gapped up big, but premarket started showing weakness. Based on some metrics I track, I thought this might be the pullback day so I came in short biased.
Off the open, it pushed into minor resistance and failed. I got short as it crossed back under the open. It started selling off hard confirming my thesis. I scaled out into the flush and covered more into yesterday’s levels (tried my best to be more patient than I was yesterday on IBRX).
Once it got oversold and extended to the downside intraday, I looked for the bounce. First long attempt failed and I cut it fast. Then it double bottomed and I got long again. We got the bounce and I sold in chunks up to VWAP. Left it alone after that.
It’s not often I pull off a clean two-sided trade so I’m really happy about this execution.
ALBT 0.00%↑
ALBT was gapping on weak news about joining AMD’s developer program. Not meaningful, but it had big volume. There was a clear psychological level at $1 below.
The plan here was nail and bail because it could do anything with that huge volume. I got short on my signal. It tried to push higher, ran into a big seller, and halted down. I covered most at $1 and left a small trailer with a break-even stop that got hit. Now it’s squeezing higher in afterhours. Solid read.
Swings
-Stopped out of NXT swing. It’s a shame because I really liked the setup, but it invalidated. Move on.
Current swings: EQT GEVX
Takeaways
Today was about flexibility. EWY wasn’t typical for me, but the extension made it worth trading. I did a better job staying patient on the short and flipping long when it was stretched.
Goal tomorrow: keep trading what’s actually there and stay strict on invalidation, especially on swings.
