Daily Trading Recap - 3/3/26
Big Gap, Easy Money Early, Grind After
TLDR
Nailed the premarket short in BATL after the T1 news halt.
Took VXX and SNDK with market weakness, managed both cleanly.
BATL turned into a choppy mess and never gave the clean unwind.
Trades I Took
BATL 0.00%↑
BATL was my main focus going into today. It gapped up huge overnight, hitting $35 in premarket after being a $5 stock a few days ago. That kind of extension creates big opportunities but also comes with risk. I was up early and started in short on a small bounce then added after more confirmation.
Around 8:15am it halted pending news. They announced a $15m raise at $5.50 per share. It reopened just before the bell and flushed to $20. I covered a big chunk into that wash. Even though the offering wasn’t massive, these situations can get tricky with strong themes behind them. That was the cleanest part of the whole trade.
After the open, I added back on the next bounce with wide risk. This thing was volatile and I didn’t want to get shaken out over noise. I was essentially risking my premarket profits to afford that wider stop.
Later in the day when oil cracked, BATL finally started to roll. I covered a small piece but held most, thinking it could unwind way more. It bounced off a daily level around $23.3 and chopped around the rest of the day which is extremely annoying on a setup like this. I closed it at the bell.
Best trade was the premarket flush. After that it was just work.
VXX 0.00%↑
With both the SPY and QQQ gapping down under a key consolidation, I wanted downside exposure. I bought VXX on the opening range break.
As the market sold, I trimmed into strength. When momentum slowed and the market bounced, I sold the rest. Straightforward hedge trade.
SNDK 0.00%↑
Memory stocks were weak this morning and breaking trend. I shorted SNDK on the low of day break while the market was rolling over. It flushed fast and I covered into 560. Set the rest to breakeven and got stopped on the bounce for a quick and easy trade.
Swings and Other Notable Mentions
MOBX 0.00%↑ and TURB 0.00%↑ were massive runners. MOBX did over 1B in volume. I stayed away but they’ll be on watch tomorrow.
Sold the rest of GEVX 0.00%↑ on the close below the daily 10sma. Classic swing trade, super happy with it.
Current swings: BE 0.00%↑ (came within pennies of stopping me out), EQT 0.00%↑
Takeaways
The edge was in the early volatility. The BATL premarket trade paid. After that, it turned into a grind.
I did a good job taking what the market gave and not overstaying VXX or SNDK. Tomorrow the focus is the same: hit the clean setups early and don’t force continuation if the stock isn’t acting right.
